#22 - The Tipsy Cow, Coopers Tavern

Tavern night started at the Tipsy Cow.  The Tipsy needs to be be commended for succeeding where many others have failed.  It's location seems like a natural winner... right where King Street hits the square. Yet in my years in Madison the location has featured a string of failed ventures.  But the Tipsy gets it right where the others have failed.  Great burgers and curds and a focus on craft beers.  Simple.  Maybe the tap list is a tad too precious and hop heavy, but overall its a solid.

Pro Tip:  Burgers.  You must have one.

After the Tipsy we ventured across the square for a nightcap at Coopes.  I've always liked it, but there was a sense when it opened that it was just the overflow for The Old Fashioned (kind of an Old Town Tavern to Del Rio... to make an Ann Arbor reference).  But several years on its clear that Coopers is a success in its own right.  They have a great beer and liquor selection... a fantastic bar for eating and good food.  What's not to like?
